When editing goes wrong: My Dear Hugh: Letters from Richard Cobb to Hugh Trevor-Roper

by DN

I’ve read most recent books on Hugh Trevor-Roper and I was looking forward to Tim Heald’s My Dear Hugh: Letters from Richard Cobb to Hugh Trevor-Roper. But I see the first 800-1000 copies have been pulped due to the large number of mistakes in the copy. According to the Evening Standard these include renaming Graham Greene’s mistress, Catherine Walston, ‘Caroline’, and references to ‘Corpus Christie’ College, Oxford.

… Editors, hey. Can’t live with them. Can’t live without them.
